Gearbox Software and 2K Games Announce Earlier Release Date for Borderlands 4
Gearbox Software and 2K Games have announced that Borderlands 4 will arrive earlier than expected, with its release date moved up to September 12. This announcement immediately sparked comments suggesting that this decision is related to GTA 6, but Gearbox denies it.
Randy Pitchford Clarifies the Reason Behind the Earlier Release Date
Randy Pitchford, who shared the new date before Sony revealed the State of Play for Borderlands 4 scheduled for later today, stated that the game will be released earlier due to the team’s work and not because of GTA 6, which is also a Take-Two Interactive title.
“The earlier release of Borderlands 4 is 100% a result of confidence in the game and the production trajectory supported by real tasks and bug fixes. Our decision has literally no relation to the theoretical or actual release date of other products,” Pitchford said on the social network X.
