Gamescom and E3 Relationship
Felix Falk, managing director of Game, the German company that organizes Gamescom, says that their event has never been in direct competition with E3, they were complementary, so now they feel more responsibility.
“We had a good partnership with E3 over the years and it was never a competition. It was more like, announce your game at E3 and play it at Gamescom,” Falk told TheGameBusiness.
Benefits of E3 Disappearance
However, he admits that the disappearance of E3 has benefited Gamescom in several ways, bringing greater responsibility to the event, but also forcing companies to change the way they think about announcements. Nevertheless, they are managing to receive more and more support.
“In the past, it was a challenge to convince some people and there was a lot of discussion with some of these companies, but now, if you look at the lineup and who is at Gamescom, almost everyone is here. So, we have been successful in getting everyone, well, almost everyone, to Gamescom.”
Gamescom Dates and Announcements
The event takes place between August 20th and 24th, but on the 19th you will already have the opening event, with several announcements.
