Frictional Games Reaches 5 Million Copies Sold Worldwide
The Swedish studio Frictional Games, known for its psychological horror games, has announced that the Amnesia saga has surpassed 5 million copies sold worldwide. This milestone is significant for the studio, which has been creating unique and terrifying experiences since its founding in 2007.
Success of the Amnesia Series
The success of the Amnesia series is remarkable, especially considering that the first game, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, was released without the support of a major publisher and managed to sell 36,000 copies in the first month, accumulating 1.36 million units in the first two years. This performance generated revenue of approximately $3.6 million, surpassing a production budget of $360,000.
Expansion of Frictional Games
In addition to Amnesia, Frictional Games is also responsible for other games such as SOMA and the Penumbra series. The studio continues to expand its portfolio and explore new ways to immerse players in psychological horror experiences.
