During PAX West 2025, Naoki Yoshida, also known as Yoshi-P, reiterated his commitment to the ongoing development of Final Fantasy 14, emphasizing his dedication to the game’s evolution. In an interview with Noisy Pixel, the producer and director of Square Enix’s MMORPG highlighted the extensive work still ahead in the game and expressed his intention to remain actively involved for the foreseeable future.
Yoshida, while often viewed as a creator, sees himself primarily as an employee of Square Enix tasked with delivering enjoyable gaming experiences to players. His ultimate objective is to craft content that resonates with fans while managing the project without becoming overwhelmed. “There are numerous goals I have yet to achieve in Final Fantasy XIV… tasks that demand my attention,” he stated.
Although Yoshida participates in other Square Enix ventures, such as Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, he aims to prioritize game development over administrative duties. Given the option, he prefers to concentrate on game design but acknowledges the challenges of balancing this aspiration with his current responsibilities.
Furthermore, Yoshida encouraged players to provide feedback thoughtfully, emphasizing the presence of real individuals behind the games they cherish. He requested constructive criticism to facilitate ongoing enhancements and the delivery of high-quality gaming experiences.
