PlayStation Japan’s Conditions for PlayStation 5 Reservations
Contrary to the global scenario, PlayStation Japan has established specific requirements for reserving a PlayStation 5 30th Anniversary Edition in Japan.
Reservations in Japan
The limited edition console, with only 12,300 units available, was open for reservations on September 26th in several countries. Despite the price tag of €1099, the demand was high, leading to sold out reservations within minutes. Subsequently, the resale market on platforms like eBay saw consoles being sold for exorbitant prices exceeding €6000.
In Japan, Sony has mandated that interested individuals must link a Japanese PlayStation Network account with a minimum of 30 hours of gameplay between February 2014 and September 2024 to qualify for the reservation process.
In case the number of reservations surpasses the available units, PlayStation Japan will implement a lottery system to determine the sequence of console sales.
