The Last of Us Wins Emmy Award
The second season of The Last of Us has won its first Emmy. The HBO series took home the award for Best Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series during the recent Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony. The award was given to the second episode of the season, Through the Valley.
Future of the Series
The new season, consisting of seven episodes, received multiple nominations, including acting categories, production design, and visual effects. So far, this technical sound editing award was the only one won.
In the first season, the TV adaptation of the acclaimed game had already garnered significant attention, with 24 nominations and eight awards. Among them, the Emmy for Best Guest Actor, which went to Nick Offerman for his role as Bill.
The second season has already concluded, and the continuation of the series is guaranteed. The third season has been confirmed, reinforcing HBO’s investment in this adaptation, despite the departure of Neil Druckmann, co-creator of the original game, who announced in July that he would no longer be creatively involved in the project.
In addition to this technical achievement, The Last of Us continues to be nominated in various categories at the Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be presented on September 14, 2025. Therefore, the series may still add more awards to its list.
