Lady Gaga’s Performance
Casting director Francine Maisler revealed that Todd Phillips himself was the one who had the idea to cast Lady Gaga in Joker: Folie à Deux. Maisler is confident in the choice, stating that Lady Gaga’s performance will leave audiences speechless.
“She is so good in the film. She will leave you speechless. I didn’t suggest Lady Gaga. It wasn’t my idea. It was Todd Phillips’s idea before me. But let me tell you, she is truly surprising and very good,” Maisler said.
“I saw her and was very impressed. I mean, we all knew what she is capable of after ‘A Star is Born,’ but I thought, ‘Well, that’s her thing.’ Something she could do and just be herself. But this, man, she is really good.”
“Joaquin shocks you, but for her to keep up with him, and be credible and not be overshadowed on screen by what that role is and what the performance is, shows that she is good.”
