The PlayStation 6 is currently in development, according to Hideaki Nishino, a leader at PlayStation. Nishino emphasized the ongoing commitment to dedicated consoles in a recent interview with Famitsu. He pointed out that while PS4 games are still popular and the number of PS5 games is increasing, home consoles will remain a core part of their business for the foreseeable future.
Nishino also mentioned the expanding gaming landscape, including PCs and different styles of gaming. Sony is considering how to attract more PlayStation users, both on traditional consoles and through the PSN. Despite the rise of cloud gaming, Nishino believes that hardware, such as controllers and screens, will still be essential.
The development of the PS6 is in its early stages and does not mean the end of support for the PS5. Just like the PS4 continues to receive new titles, the PS5 will also continue to have new games released for it.
