Bobby Kotick’s Plans for Activision Blizzard and Time Warner
Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, revealed that his company tried to buy Time Warner and they were very close to making the deal happen.
In a conversation with Variety, where Kotick also discussed the sexual harassment controversy that led to a legal battle in 2021, he mentioned that Activision Blizzard was prepared to acquire Time Warner in case AT&T couldn’t secure approval from authorities for the $85 billion deal.
Kotick explained that the plan was to acquire Time Warner’s properties to adapt them into video games, while also adapting Activision Blizzard’s properties into series and films. He believed that this merger would create an extraordinary company.
Success of Warner Bros. Discovery and Future Prospects
Warner Bros. Discovery (the current version of Time Warner) has seen great success with games like Hogwarts Legacy, giving us a glimpse into what Kotick envisioned for the merger. Additionally, Mortal Kombat 1, another Warner game, is expected to achieve great success.
