YouTube Monetization Policy Changes
Starting from July 15, 2025, YouTube will implement new rules in its monetization policy, focusing on identifying content that is considered non-original or repetitive. The platform announced that these changes are aimed at strengthening the criteria of the YouTube Partner Program, with the goal of ensuring that only “original” and “authentic” content continues to be monetized.
Impact on Content Creators
According to the new policy, content classified as “mass-produced” or “repetitive” may no longer be eligible to generate revenue, even if they are already part of the program. Although YouTube has not clearly defined what it means by these terms, it is possible that videos generated by artificial intelligence, automated compilations, or very similar formats, such as certain types of reaction videos, may be affected. This update comes at a time when the platform has been trying to address the increase in videos produced with automated tools, which often reuse existing content with little or no modification. The new measure aims, according to the company, to better match what is now considered “non-authentic content.”
Other Changes in YouTube Studio
In addition to this change, YouTube will also be adjusting other categories in the YouTube Studio. The sensitive ads category “Bare Skin (Image Only)” will be removed from July 15, to be replaced by options such as “Reference to Sex,” for those who want more detailed control over the types of ads shown on the channel. These changes follow other recent restrictions, such as the ban on minors under 16 years old from live streaming on their own. The true impact of these new guidelines is not yet known, and further clarification from YouTube is awaited.
