Superman flies to HBO Max
Superman has left the big screen cinemas and landed on HBO Max, where it has achieved one of the best performances on the service, coming in second only to Barbie, another major success from Warner Bros.
The success of Superman on HBO Max
In the first 10 days of availability on HBO Max, previously known as Max and now as HBO Max, the Superman movie directed by James Gunn reached over 13 million views, making it the second-best result for a movie on the streaming service.
Starring David Corenswet, Superman arrived on HBO Max on September 19, but even before that, its arrival was eagerly anticipated. “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” saw a 670% increase in views, “Superman: The Movie” had a 155% increase, and “Superman Returns” recorded a 120% increase. Even “Man of Steel” was not forgotten, with a 40% increase in views.
Prior to its success on HBO Max, Superman grossed over $615 million at the box office, making it the 6th best result in Hollywood in 2025 and the biggest success for a superhero movie.
