Changes in Video Streaming Services
When video streaming services first emerged, one of the biggest draws was the ability to watch desired programs at any time without advertisements interrupting the experience. Years later, part of that proposition is starting to disappear.
Introduction of Ad-supported Tier
In January, the company introduced an ad-supported tier and began asking for more money from subscribers who want to watch videos without involuntary interruptions. Now, Amazon is ready to enter a new phase of introducing advertisements on Prime Video.
The company will reinforce how it presents ads and even make purchases a major part of it. According to 9to5 Mac, Amazon has started informing subscribers on the basic tier of Prime Video that they will start seeing a new type of ads that will allow them to add these products to their shopping carts.
In addition to ads that appear in the middle of series or movies, ads will be presented when the user pauses viewing, also accompanied by the “add to cart” button, and ads that promote interaction through incentives will be shown.
We are decidedly in a new era of video streaming.
