The Success of The Elder Scrolls Online
The Elder Scrolls Online has generated over $2 billion in player spending in the MMO RPG over 10 years, a number that ZeniMax believes showcases the success of this title.
Matt Firor, director of ZeniMax Online Studios, states that they revealed this number to demonstrate the success of Elder Scrolls Online, especially because “ESO is not often spoken of as one of the most successful service games. But it is, it really is in virtually every way.”
In his discussion with GamesRadar+, Firor mentions that Elder Scrolls Online may not constantly be in the news, but that number truly reflects the dedication of its community, how committed they are to the game, described by Firor himself as “a huge success, and we love working on it.”
Expansions and Future of Elder Scrolls Online
The Elder Scrolls Online was launched in April 2014 for PC, 2015 on PS4 and Xbox One (with PS5 and Xbox Series versions arriving in 2021), as an MMORPG, but includes vast content that can be played solo, despite the need for a constant internet connection.
Throughout these 10 years of existence, Elder Scrolls Online has received 7 expansions and in June 2024, it will receive the eighth one, called Gold Road.
