James Gunn, one of the main responsible for the new DC universe in cinemas, recently commented that the Superman movie was inspired by a Japanese film, Godzilla Minus One, a very humble, but fascinating Japanese work that has garnered immense praise worldwide. Gunn said, “My goal is to create a film like Godzilla Minus One, which features Godzilla, but also has a great human drama. At its core is a human story. The relationship between Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and the villain Lex Luthor is the focus of the work.” This comment reached the ears of director Takashi Yamazaki, who through the social network X decided to thank Gunn for his words, which he considers a source of pride. In response to a comment describing it as “amazing” to know that Godzilla Minus One inspired the new Superman, Yamazaki replied, “yes, I have tears in my eyes.” Godzilla Minus One is definitely a sensational film that captivates the viewer precisely with its human drama, which one wouldn’t even imagine finding in a film attracted by the huge monster in its name. Gunn’s goal for Superman, arriving in theaters on July 10, is precisely to recreate that effect.
