Activision and Treyarch are hard at work on Black Ops 7, the next installment in the iconic Call of Duty franchise. With a focus on returning to the series’ roots with a credible military tone, the developers have decided to cancel several collaborations that were causing a stir in the community.
Feedback from fans about crossovers with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Beavis and Butt-Head, Tomb Raider, and other series led Treyarch to reevaluate their approach. As a result, they made the decision to remove Black Ops 6 skins compatibility in Black Ops 7 and put an end to new partnerships.
In an interview with CharlieIntel, Treyarch’s Yale Miller shared that the team is committed to introducing cosmetics that align with the essence of Black Ops 7. This has meant turning down lucrative opportunities that didn’t quite fit the game’s identity.
“While not everything needs to be hyper-realistic, everything we include will need to make sense within the world of Call of Duty,” Miller explained. Whether it’s in the intense multiplayer action or the chaotic zombies mode, the goal is to create an experience that screams Black Ops.
