The Disappointing Performance of M3GAN 2.0
The highly anticipated film M3GAN 2.0 made its debut in theaters last week, but it failed to meet the expectations of both critics and audiences. Many have labeled it as a flop, raising questions about what went wrong with the sequel.
An Overestimation of the Character
Jason Blum, the director of the film and head of Blumhouse Productions, admitted that they may have overestimated the appeal of the character M3GAN. In an attempt to shake things up, the creators explored different genres and storylines, but it seems that their ambitious approach did not resonate with viewers.
Blum explained, “We all thought M3GAN was like Superman. We could do anything with her. We could change genres, set it in the summer, change her appearance, switch her from being the bad girl to the good one.” However, this bold experimentation may have backfired, leading to the lackluster performance of the sequel.
Despite the disappointing results, Blum remains optimistic about the future of the franchise. He believes that transitioning from horror to action and science fiction opens up exciting possibilities for M3GAN’s character development in future installments.
