Raf Grassetti joins Netflix
Brazilian artist Raf Grassetti has left Sony Santa Monica Studios after 10 years, and now we know his new home is Netflix.
The art director who helped shape the visual identity of the most recent games in the God of War series is now working at the streaming giant, which is setting up a studio with top talent to develop its own video games.
Netflix’s new gaming studio
Led by Chacko Sonny, executive producer on Overwatch, this studio features Joseph Staten as creative director, a veteran from the Halo series who recently left Microsoft, and Jerry Edsall as director of technology. Edsall previously worked as lead programmer on Gears 5.
Grassetti stated that he joined Netflix to bring a new intellectual property to life that will result in a AAA game, and he is excited to contribute to a team full of talent.
Netflix has long been pursuing enhanced ambitions for the gaming industry, and this studio is one of the biggest steps it has taken in that direction.
