Hideaki Itsuno leads new Japanese studio backed by Tencent
Hideaki Itsuno, director of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and one of the main figures behind many acclaimed games like Devil May Cry at Capcom, is now leading a new Japanese studio founded by Chinese company Tencent.
Itsuno joins the growing list of Japanese development veterans leaving well-known companies to become independent or collaborate with Chinese companies, a move he will make with LightSpeed Japan Studio.
New studio to focus on AAA action games
The studio will focus on developing AAA scale action games aimed at global audiences, created by a team with employees from around the world. For now, no further details have been shared about Itsuno’s new project.
At Capcom, Itsuno began his career as director of Star Gladiator, was one of the creators of Rival Schools, worked on games like Auto Modelista and Power Stone, and took on the role of director for Devil May Cry 3, 4, and 5, as well as being the main figure behind Dragon’s Dogma.
