Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Strategy for Singleplayer Games
Sony Interactive Entertainment is focused on finding success in multiplayer games while also ensuring the release of a high-quality singleplayer blockbuster every year. Since the launch of the PS5 in November 2020, the company has been committed to delivering at least one high-profile singleplayer game annually, a trend they plan to continue.
Upcoming Releases and Consistent Quality
Following successful titles like Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls in 2020, 2021 saw the release of Returnal and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. In 2022, gamers can look forward to God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 slated for late 2023 and Astro Bot released last year. The highly anticipated Ghost of Yotei is scheduled for release in 2025.
Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, has outlined a plan to maintain a steady pace of releasing high-profile singleplayer games annually, ensuring that these games are launched at the right time of the year and meet the quality standards expected from PlayStation Studios.
With Saros from Housemarque confirmed for 2026, there are hopes for the arrival of Marvel’s Wolverine next year and Intergalactic in the following year.
