The Polish company CI Games, known for their work on the recent Lords of the Fallen game, believes that implementing DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) elements in video games could harm players’ enjoyment and the title’s sales, choosing to stay out of “political and social agendas.”
During a recent conversation with investors, as reported by Wccftech, CI Games was asked about their stance on DEI in video games. Ryan Hill, global marketing director, responded that they will remain a studio focused on player enjoyment and an interesting experience.
“We remain dedicated to producing video games focused on the player, prioritizing an excellent user experience with themes and characters specifically created for dedicated and adjacent audiences,” said Hill.
“While some recent video games have taken the opportunity to insert political and social agendas into their experiences, it is clear that many players do not appreciate this. As a result, we have seen a number of high-profile games underperform commercially last year.”
“Our games will always be developed to maximize player enjoyment and commercial success, so we will not integrate any social or political agendas into these future experiences after observing the high risks they can represent.”
Currently, CI Games is focused on wrapping up support for Lords of the Fallen but is already preparing a new game, details of which have not been revealed yet.
