XDefiant Faces Cheating Issues
XDefiant is Ubisoft’s latest attempt to achieve success with a service-based experience, a free-to-play game whose fun is being threatened by the arrival of cheaters. Just two days after its launch, the community forming around XDefiant has already begun to report instances where players are using cheats to gain an unfair advantage in Ubisoft’s latest effort, heavily inspired by Microsoft Gaming’s Call of Duty series, specifically the Modern Warfare sub-series.
Cheaters in XDefiant
Through social media and Reddit, videos have started to surface showing players using cheats to see through walls or get aiming assistance to triumph over their opponents. Despite the use of BattleEye technology, the anti-cheat system in Rainbow Six Siege, Escape from Tarkov, and others, cheaters are finding their way into XDefiant.
Given that XDefiant is a free game, the influx of cheaters seemed inevitable, but now the community will have to deal with them, requiring the use of tools to report inappropriate behaviors to Ubisoft and prompt action from the company.
