Exciting News from Toei Animation at New York Comic Con 2023
During the New York Comic Con 2023, Toei Animation announced the anime series “Dragon Ball Daima”, scheduled for the fall of 2024 and produced with strong involvement from Akira Toriyama.
A New Adventure with Goku in “Dragon Ball Daima”
According to the statement, the creator of Dragon Ball will be more involved in Daima than usual and even planned entire episodes for the new narratives that will be present in Daima, Goku’s return to TV after the end of Super in March 2018.
The teaser trailer shows scenes from the forty years of Dragon Ball history and confirms Toriyama’s involvement in creating new character designs and stories for this new series.
Despite the focus on child Goku, Daima consists of new stories, as evidenced by Vegeta and Bulma also appearing in different versions, as if they were children again.
Toriyama explained that “Daima” is a made-up term and can be translated into English as “Malicious”. As described, Goku and his friends become small due to a conspiracy, leading them to embark on a new adventure in a mysterious world.
“As Goku has to compensate for his small size, he uses his Magic Staff to fight, something that hasn’t been seen in a long time. I created the story and setting, as well as many of the designs. In fact, I am putting much more effort into this than usual.”
Dragon Ball Daima may remind you of GT, but the creators ensure that it is something completely new.
