The Bandai Namco company has recently disclosed its financial results for the last quarter of 2023, revealing a significant decrease in operating profits that has prompted a shift in their production approach.
During the period from October to December 2023, Bandai Namco generated over 4.7 million euros in sales, marking a 3.9% increase compared to the same period in 2022. However, operating profits plummeted by 26.3% to 483 thousand euros.
The digital segment, which includes video games, experienced an 8.9% decline in sales and a staggering 96.5% drop in profits, leading the company to reconsider its strategy.
According to TechRaptor, Armored Core 6: Fire of Rubicon garnered significant popularity but saw a decline in sales during the last quarter of 2023, lacking support from other major titles. Additionally, the company indicated that several projects were canceled, resulting in wasted time and money without tangible outcomes.
Looking ahead, Bandai Namco aims to enhance project approval processes and optimize their catalog with a stronger emphasis on quality. Furthermore, the company expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of their late 2023 releases.
Currently, Bandai Namco is working on bringing Blue Protocol to the Western market, as well as developing titles such as Little Nightmares 3, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, Dragon Ball FighterZ for PS5 and Xbox Series, Synduality, and Sand Land.
