Sony Corporate Report on PlayStation Division Revenue
The Sony Corporate Report for 2025 revealed that physical sales only accounted for 3% of PlayStation division revenue in the last fiscal year. With the division recording around $31.5 billion in total revenue, this translates to approximately $945 million. Digital content and add-ons/DLC make up almost half of the revenues, with hardware and network services also playing significant roles.
A Different Perspective on Physical Sales
When looking at units sold, physical copies still hold a much larger share of the PlayStation market, representing about 24% of sales per unit, equivalent to around 73 million copies this year. This disparity underscores the difference between “revenue share” and “unit share” in the context of physical sales.
Industry Trends
The data presented aligns with a widespread trend in the industry, where the proportion of revenue attributed to digital sources (such as digital games, microtransactions, DLC, and services) has been on the rise, while the significance of physical copies in revenue generation has been declining.
