Aspyr Media removes AI-generated voices from Tomb Raider remasters
Controversy Over AI-Generated Voices
Aspyr Media has announced the removal of AI-generated voices from the Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered games. This decision comes in response to the controversy that erupted when fans discovered that new lines for Lara Croft were created using artificial intelligence, without the input of the original actresses who voiced the character.
Legal Action and Resolution
Following the discovery of unauthorized AI-generated content, Françoise Cadol, the voice of Lara Croft in the French version of the games, took legal action against Aspyr Media. She accused the company of cloning her voice without permission to generate new lines in the remasters. As a result of this legal action, Aspyr Media has removed the controversial voices from the games.
While it has been confirmed that the AI-generated voices have been removed, the status of the situation between Françoise Cadol and Aspyr Media remains unclear.
