PlayStation Portal hacked to run games locally
The PlayStation Portal, an official remote player from Sony Interactive Entertainment, has been hacked by a group of engineers at Google. They successfully modified the device to run games locally, such as installing the PPSSPP emulator to play PSP games, the first portable developed by PlayStation.
Playing games without an online connection
Thanks to this emulator, now you can enjoy playing PSP games on the PS Portal without needing an online connection. The engineer who achieved this feat has decided not to share the method publicly and clarifies that no hardware was tampered with during the process – it was all done at the software level.
