The Potential Pricing of Grand Theft Auto 6
Analysts, including Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities, have been discussing the possibility of Grand Theft Auto 6 being released at an unprecedented price of $100. This speculation is based on the idea that Take-Two could integrate GTA Online into the package and offer a substantial amount of virtual currency to players.
An Unprecedented Strategy
Pachter compares this potential pricing strategy to the Call of Duty model, where Activision saw a 40% increase in sales of the premium edition by connecting it with Warzone and Mobile. By executing a similar integration between GTA 6 and GTA Online, Take-Two could justify a higher price point for the game.
The industry has already seen a shift towards higher game prices with the release of NBA 2K21 for $70. If Grand Theft Auto 6 follows suit and is released at $100, it could establish a new standard for major game releases in the sector.
While Take-Two has not officially confirmed the $100 price point for GTA 6, speculation continues to grow as the game’s scheduled release in late 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series approaches.
