Hideo Kojima Won’t Play Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Remake
Hideo Kojima will not be playing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of the classic series that he helped create. The new version of the game will be released on August 28 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, produced by Konami without any involvement from Kojima, following the split between the two parties in 2015.
Kojima’s Focus on New Projects
In an interview with Ssense, the Japanese creator was straightforward when asked if he would try out the new game: “No, I won’t,” he replied with a laugh. The response encapsulates the distance between Kojima and Konami, in a relationship that ended on hostile terms. Kojima is currently focused on his own projects, particularly Death Stranding 2.
Kojima’s Vision for the Video Game Industry
During the conversation, he also took the opportunity to comment on the current state of the video game industry. After watching this year’s Summer Game Fest, he shared his perception that many games seem to follow identical formulas, using concepts like medieval monsters or aliens, both in terms of gameplay and visual style. For Kojima, it is important to introduce something truly new for the industry to continue evolving, even if it means not trying to please everyone.
