The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI has been postponed to May 26, 2026, as announced by Rockstar Games. The initial release window set for autumn 2025 has been pushed back to allow for more time to meet the expected level of quality. Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, elaborated on the decision, highlighting the need for additional adjustments as a game nears completion.
Zelnick explained that a short additional period was identified to enable Rockstar to realize their creative vision without constraints. He expressed full support for this strategy and addressed concerns about further delays, stating that once a specific date is set, the company typically sticks to it.
While GTA 6’s release date has shifted, Take-Two has other exciting releases lined up for the upcoming fiscal year, including Borderlands 4, Mafia: The Old Country, and new installments of NBA 2K and WWE 2K. The buzz surrounding these titles is building anticipation among fans as they await their arrival.
