Moon Studios, the creators of No Rest for the Wicked, have announced the release of their first major update, titled The Crucible, following an initial period focused on bug fixes and minor adjustments. This update marks a new phase in the game’s development, with a series of important improvements and additions that promise to enhance the players’ experience.
Since the beginning of early access, the team has been focusing on problem-solving and implementing essential improvements, such as DLSS/FSR support, control remapping, and support for 32:9 ultra-wide screens. Now, with the foundation stabilized, the focus has shifted to the introduction of more substantial content.
Renewal and Expansion of The Crucible
The highlight of the update in The Crucible is the renewal and expansion of the Crucible Ceremony, one of the main game modes. This new version offers a tripled number of random rooms, a new artistic theme, and the addition of the Echoes gameplay system. This system allows you to customize each session in the Crucible with a variety of buffs and effects, making each session unique. Additionally, all enemies drop bright orbs called Traces, which are used to activate these Echoes and enrich the gaming experience.
Another major addition is the introduction of a new NPC merchant, known as The Seneschal. This mysterious character resides in the depths of the Crucible and can be fed with Gloamseed, collected during adventures. In return, it offers useful items and enhancements, such as Equipment Exaltation, which permanently increases the stats and enchantments of items.
The new enemy, The Gloam, also makes its debut in this update. These enemies, described as lost souls corrupted by the Pestilence, have a unique bioluminescence and bring additional challenges.
In addition to these specific improvements to the Crucible, the update brings general gameplay enhancements, such as new combat effects and the addition of roaming animals that players can interact with. Game performance has also been optimized, including improvements in CPU, smoother area transitions, and polished cinematics. Additionally, No Rest for the Wicked is now compatible with the Steam Deck.
Moon Studios reveals that new updates are in development and promises more details on the Early Access roadmap soon. The team continues to work on perfecting and expanding the game, listening to player feedback and continuously seeking to improve the experience offered.
