The End of XDefiant: Ubisoft Calls It Quits
Ubisoft, a major player in the video game industry, has decided to pull the plug on its free-to-play shooter, XDefiant. Unfortunately, this means that three production studios have been shut down and 277 employees have been let go.
XDefiant’s Struggles
Despite a promising start and a loyal player base, XDefiant just couldn’t find its footing in the cutthroat world of free FPS games. Launched in May, the game failed to live up to Ubisoft’s expectations for long-term success.
Support During the Shutdown
As the game gears up to officially close its doors on June 3, 2025, players won’t be able to make any new transfers, registrations, or purchases. The servers will also go dark after that date. Ubisoft has thanked the affected employees for their hard work and promised to support them during this difficult transition.
