The PlayStation Dominates Japan’s Physical Game Sales with the Release of Ghost of Yotei
The PlayStation has once again proven its dominance in Japan’s gaming market as Ghost of Yotei from Sucker Punch takes the top spot for best-selling physical games. Selling over 120,000 units during its launch week, Ghost of Yotei surpassed Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 and Digimon Story: Time Stranger by a significant margin. Another newcomer to the scene, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, also made a strong debut with over 77,000 units sold across its three versions.
Console Sales Show a Shift in the Market
While the impact of Ghost of Yotei on console sales was minimal, the PlayStation 5 saw a notable increase in sales, reaching 27,000 units. The Switch 2 claimed the top spot as the best-selling console with over 44,000 units sold, followed by the Switch 1 with over 24,000 units.
