Video games offer the opportunity to step into roles that are beyond our reality – from being a superhero to a detective. And now, with the release of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy earlier this year, gamers can also add defense attorney to their list of virtual professions.
Perfect for Newcomers

While I was familiar with the classic titles in the series, diving into these remastered versions was a whole new experience. The gameplay mechanics and intricacies were a pleasant surprise, and it’s no wonder why these games have garnered so much acclaim and love from fans.
Across the trilogy, players take on the role of a lawyer striving to defend their client by unraveling inconsistencies in testimonies and presenting evidence in court. It’s a game that demands keen attention and quick thinking, as every detail matters in the pursuit of justice.

A Unique Interactive Experience
Despite the heavy reading involved, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy feels more like a virtual comic book than a traditional video game. The game is brought to life by its vibrant characters, engaging dialogue, and captivating legal cases that border on the dramatic.
From solving murders to uncovering thieves, the game offers a range of scenarios that keep players on their toes. And with investigation sections adding another layer of complexity, players must explore, question, and gather evidence to succeed in court.
Challenges and Surprises
While the game may appear linear, there are moments of unfairness and confusion that can throw off even the most seasoned players. Presenting evidence that seems logical but fails to impress the judge can be frustrating, leading to a trial and error approach at times.

Similarly, the investigation sections can be a bit unclear, leaving players feeling lost until they stumble upon the right path. A bit more polish in these areas could enhance the overall experience and reward players for exploring alternative routes.
If you’re not a fan of reading or prefer something more physically challenging, Ace Attorney may not be for you. The game’s autoplay feature means you can go long stretches without even touching a key, just reading through dialogue that automatically appears on screen. This is the essence of the game: a narrative-driven experience that doesn’t pretend to be anything else. But I must admit, there were moments when I grew impatient with characters who seemed to never stop talking, longing to get back to the action in the courtroom!
A Special Legal Journey
Ultimate Way to Play Ace Attorney
Despite this, I believe this is the best way to experience Ace Attorney. It’s amazing how the game’s minimalist graphics manage to create such a charming and distinctive visual style. The music also leaves a lasting impression, with certain tracks like “Thrill Theme” getting stuck in your head. And the addition of animated and fully voiced cutscenes in the second game only adds to the overall appeal, making me eager to check out the Ace Attorney anime.

If you have the time and enjoy a good mystery, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy offers plenty of content to keep you entertained and test your deductive skills. And for fans of the series, it’s a chance to revisit the best moments of these three games with enhanced graphics, while we eagerly await news of a new installment from Capcom.
