Acclaim Entertainment, the iconic company known for games like NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat in the ’80s and ’90s, has made a big comeback! The company recently unveiled nine new independent games during the Play Acclaim Showcase digital event.
Under the leadership of former Graffiti Games CEO Alex Josef, the revamped Acclaim is focused on supporting indie studios and reviving classic franchises to offer gamers a wide variety of styles and genres.
Some of the notable games announced include Tossdown, where players navigate dangerous environments to deliver packages; Ground Zero Hero, an action roguelite filled with mutants; and Basketball Classics, a retro-style game that combines side-scrolling action with 5v5 basketball matches.
Other titles in the lineup include Pixel Washer, where a piglet uses a high-pressure washing machine to clean up a city, and The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest, a psychological metroidvania game inspired by real-life game creator experiences. Each game, such as GRIDbeat, Talaka, and HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate, brings its own unique style.
Acclaim plans to launch these games on various platforms, including PC and consoles, with release dates yet to be announced. The publisher not only aims to revive its legacy but also to serve as a platform for fresh ideas in the gaming industry. Gamers, get ready for these exciting new adventures!
