Embracer Group addresses Alone in the Dark’s disappointing performance
The Embracer Group has finally broken their silence regarding the performance of the latest installment of Alone in the Dark. Developed by Pieces Interactive and published by THQ Nordic in March of this year, the game faced numerous delays before its release.
According to the latest financial report, Embracer has acknowledged that Alone in the Dark failed to meet their expectations. The company described its performance as “weaker than expected,” falling short of their initial estimates.
Despite not disclosing specific sales figures, Embracer did not provide any reassurance that the game was able to recoup its investment. The fact that layoffs occurred within the company in April, following the game’s release, suggests that sales did not meet the necessary threshold for profitability.
Our assessment of Alone in the Dark: “The latest edition of Alone in the Dark leaves much to be desired in terms of its genre identity. Lacking essential horror and survival elements, it instead offers a coherent narrative and an intriguing investigative storyline.”
