Apple blocks Fortnite’s return to iOS in the US and EU, resulting in global unavailability on iOS devices. Epic Games, the game’s producer, announced that Apple rejected Fortnite’s application to the App Store in the US and the Epic Games Store for iOS in the EU, preventing the launch of the new game update.
Legal Dispute
The blockade comes after a recent court decision that Apple violated an injunction by restricting links to external payment systems. Epic submitted Fortnite for review on the US App Store on May 9, but Apple has neither approved nor rejected the application to date.
Criticism and Dispute
Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, criticized Apple for allowing Fortnite clones on the App Store while blocking the original game. He also mentioned that Apple removed one of these clones after user backlash.
