Assassin’s Creed Shadows: A Game of Contrasts
So, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the latest release from Ubisoft, is currently facing a wave of negative criticism from players on Metacritic, a phenomenon known as review bombing. The game currently has a score of 5.8 based on 1,895 user reviews, which contrasts with the score of 81 given by specialized critics.
This behavior, where users give mass negative ratings, often does not reflect the actual gameplay experience, but rather external discontent or coordinated campaigns. It’s important to note that not all negative reviews come from players who actually played the game.
Mixed Reviews and Surprises
Despite this scenario, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has received positive reviews from specialized media. The game was praised for its detailed depiction of feudal Japan and the introduction of two playable protagonists: Yasuke, a samurai, and Naoe, a shinobi, each with different gameplay styles.
Here at our headquarters, we weren’t entirely convinced by Assassin’s Creed Shadows: “Ubisoft has finally released Assassin’s Creed Shadows after several setbacks. It follows the series formula without taking risks, delivering a game that is consistent with what fans already know. Naoe is a good surprise, while Yasuke seems a bit lost. Fans of the saga will love Shadows, but it’s a shame it’s not more daring.”
