Hasbro’s Profit with Baldur’s Gate 3
It’s no secret that Baldur’s Gate 3 was a huge success with both the public and critics, but what many may not know is that Hasbro itself made a significant profit from the game.
Hasbro owns the rights to Dungeons & Dragons, the property on which Larian based the game. According to a financial report, the toy industry giant made around $90 million from the game.
Financial Success of Baldur’s Gate 3
As reported by PC Gamer, quoting excerpts from the financial report for the last quarter of the past year, profits from the digital games and Wizards of the Coast departments (the publisher responsible for distributing D&D sets) increased by 10 percent compared to the previous year.
The report states that Wizards of the Coast and the Digital Gaming Segment saw a “10% increase in revenue driven by the increase in revenue from Licensed Digital Games behind Baldur’s Gate III from Larian Studios and Monopoly Go! from Scopely.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 Continues to Generate Revenue
“With another healthy quarter for Baldur’s Gate,” said Hasbro’s CFO Gina Goetter in an investor conference call, “I think Baldur’s Gate made a profit of around $90 million for the whole year.”
Given Baldur’s Gate 3’s current success, months after its release, it seems that the game will continue to generate money for Hasbro.
