Bradley Cooper Almost Joined the Cast of a DC Studios Film
James Gunn, one of the creative leaders of the new DC Studios universe, recently revealed that the main cast of the film was close to including a very well-known Hollywood actor familiar with superhero movies, Bradley Cooper. During the same conversation in which he recalled the terrible experience of having to replace Henry Cavill as Superman, Gunn mentioned that Cooper, whom he already knew from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, was someone he wanted to kickstart the DC Studios cinematic universe, possibly as Lex Luthor.
Bradley Cooper Was Chosen for the Role of Jor-El Due to His Talent
“I talked to Bradley. I wanted Lex to be someone more contemporary to Superman… I didn’t write him with an age, but I think Lex Luthor is important to Superman and I think he’s important to the future of the DC universe, and I thought it would be better to go with Nick, but yes, Bradley would have been a spectacular Lex. Bradley is good at everything.” It was precisely because Gunn admired the actor’s talent so much that he chose him to play Jor-El, Kal-El’s father, who appears for a few minutes in the Superman movie. It’s a much smaller role compared to Lex Luthor, but still one that was entrusted to someone capable of following in Marlon Brando’s footsteps.
