Bungie Executive Fired for Inappropriate Behavior
Chris Barrett, one of the main executives at Bungie and director of Marathon, has been fired following an investigation into his workplace behavior. Barrett, who started working at Bungie in 1999 and has worked on series like Halo and Destiny, disappeared from the company in March and is now reported to have been dismissed, according to Bloomberg.
Investigation Unveils Inappropriate Conduct
An internal investigation was launched after eight female employees filed complaints against Barrett earlier this year. The investigation revealed that Barrett had made inappropriate compliments to the women, attempted to engage in games of “truth or dare” with them, and even suggested that his position of power could benefit them.
Barrett claims he always acted with integrity and respect in the workplace, stating that he never realized his communications were unwanted or made anyone uncomfortable. However, Bloomberg reports having seen text messages sent by Barrett to several women at Bungie that crossed the line of professional conduct, leading to the complaints and subsequent termination.
