Superman’s New Era: A Violence-Free Approach to Krypto
James Gunn’s portrayal of Superman marks the beginning of a new era for DC Studios, with its release scheduled for July 10. Interestingly, the movie will not feature a violent scene involving Krypto, a decision that has sparked mixed reactions among the cast members.
During a recent interview with the main cast of Superman, interviewer Jake Hamilton brought up the audience’s response to a particular scene involving Krypto and Engineer. This led Portuguese actress Sara Sampaio to reveal that an even more intense scene had been removed from the final cut, much to the dismay of Nicholas Hoult, who portrays Lex Luthor.
“They actually cut a scene where Ultraman was supposed to punch Krypto,” Sampaio disclosed, “due to overwhelmingly negative test audience reactions.”
DC Studios’ Compassionate Stance on Krypto
María Gabriela de Faría, who plays Engineer in the movie, emphasized the importance of portraying sensitivity towards animals on screen. She stated, “It is simply unacceptable to depict violence against a dog… I want to clarify that I did not harm the dog in that scene; rather, the dog initiated the aggression.”
For those concerned about witnessing distressing scenes involving Krypto, it appears that DC Studios has taken proactive measures by removing the most intense sequence featuring the beloved fictional dog.
