The CMA, the competition authority in the UK, will once again appeal to try to obtain approval and continue to investigate the cloud gaming and mobile browsers sectors.
Phase 2 of this investigation aims to determine if Apple and Google dominate to the point of harming competition in mobile browsers, but also aims to understand the impact of Apple’s restrictions on cloud gaming on its iOS devices.
According to GI.biz, these plans were put on hold after complaints from Apple and Google, along with a disagreement with the UK appeals court. The CMA has now decided to reactivate its investigation, but will have to prove to the appeals court today that it has grounds to do so.
Many of the major companies in the video game industry see cloud gaming as extremely important for this industry, and the CMA’s investigation into Apple’s restrictions could result in changes that eventually affect the plans of these companies.
