Hideki Kamiya, known for his work on games like Okami and Bayonetta, is not one to shy away from sharing his opinions on social media. Recently, he commented on the criticisms directed towards Ubisoft’s game Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Kamiya stated that the criticisms of the game come from a minority of users, while the majority of players remain silent. He mentioned that “normal people” are quiet about the game and do not engage in heated discussions.
After these words, Kamiya faced negative reactions from some users. His response was to suggest that those who did not agree with his position should step back and he threatened to block those who continued to bother him.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has faced many criticisms since its announcement. Controversies include the choice of Yasuke as the protagonist, a supposed African samurai, and issues related to gameplay and cultural representativity. Ubisoft responded to these criticisms by stating that the series aims to pique players’ curiosity about historical periods and is not meant to be a factual representation of history.
Assassin’s Shadows has surpassed 2 million players, officially becoming the biggest Steam launch ever. In the UK, physical sales are the highest of the year.
It’s not just this case, but the majority of “normal people,” on the other hand, who take the stance of “I don’t care,” are basically silent. The other majority, the normal people who have an “I don’t mind” attitude, are basically silent… Anyway, there’s no way to make these normal people equally visible…
