Nintendo Reveals New Details About Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo recently revealed new details about the highly anticipated successor to its hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch 2. During the presentation, images of games in production for the new console were showcased, but there was no concrete evidence of the use of NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology. This absence surprised some experts in the field, as DLSS is known to enhance the graphical quality and performance of games through intelligent upscaling.
Analysis of Game Performance
A preliminary evaluation of the images presented was conducted by Digital Foundry. According to the analysis, titles like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza ran at 60 frames per second, with resolutions of 1440p and 1080p, respectively. Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom achieved 1440p at 60 fps. However, there were no clear signs of antialiasing or the application of DLSS in the images presented. It is possible that the images correspond to early versions of the games, without the full implementation of these technologies.
Performance Comparison
Data suggests that the Nintendo Switch 2 may have performance comparable to that of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. For example, the game Cyberpunk 2077 was displayed at resolutions between 540p and 1080p at 30 fps, while Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade ran at 1080p at 30 fps, with better image quality than the base PlayStation 4, although with some frame synchronization issues.
Preliminary Test Data from Digital Foundry:
– Mario Kart World runs at 1440p and 60 FPS
– Donkey Kong Bananza runs at 1080p and 60 FPS
– The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are running at 1440p and 60 FPS on the Switch 2
– The Duskbloods runs at 1080p and 30 FPS
– Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition runs at 30 FPS with dynamic resolution between 540p and 1080p
– Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade runs at 1080p and 30 FPS
