Amazon MGM Studios announces lead actress for new Tomb Raider series
The Amazon MGM Studios has found the actress to bring Lara Croft to life in the new live-action series Tomb Raider, which will enter the production phase in January 2026.
After months of speculation about who would be chosen to portray Lara Croft in the series, it has now been revealed that actress Sophie Turner, best known as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, has been chosen. Her name has sparked various rumors over the years.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the creator of the adaptation, responsible for the script and executive producer of the series, alongside Chad Hodge, who will also be one of the main figures behind Tomb Raider for Amazon, according to Variety.
“I am beyond excited to be Lara Croft. She is such an iconic character, meaning so much to many, and I am giving it my all,” said Turner, who knows that following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander is a huge responsibility.
Crystal Dynamics is involved in the production with Amazon MGM Studios, along with Wells Street Productions, Legendary Television, and Story Kitchen, which remains involved in various video game adaptations for Hollywood.
