Dead Rising: Remaster Deluxe – The Revitalization of Capcom
Dead Rising: Remaster Deluxe once again shows Capcom shining with splendor and if you are one of those who feel that the Japanese company has regained its grace, you must add this title to the list of efforts that keep its momentum high. Despite the common element of zombies, Dead Rising is far from the popularity of Resident Evil, but efforts like this remaster show that it deserves much more attention and care.
The Comedic Approach to the Zombie Apocalypse
Dead Rising was released in 2006 for the Xbox 360 and was one of the main attractions in Microsoft’s mission to differentiate its console, with a Japanese electricity that you couldn’t find anywhere else. With a new intellectual property, Capcom managed to win critical acclaim and player praise, sparked desire for more, but unfortunately, the sequels failed to live up to it.
After several efforts, the series was put to sleep in 2016 and since Dead Rising 4 we haven’t had a new game, but now, 8 years later, the company seems willing to gauge interest in the franchise. If this remaster is an indication of possible plans, then count us in because its heartbeat still beats strong.
The Refinement of the Original in Dead Rising: Remaster Deluxe
Despite being considered a remaster, this new version of the 2006 classic goes far beyond what you expect from that designation, often approaching what you expect from a remake in various parameters. However, as the design, map structure, events, and enemies remain unchanged, the company chose to describe it as a remaster. Nevertheless, it is impossible to deny that this version improves on the original and becomes the recommended choice for those who want to play Dead Rising.
Dead Rising arrived at a time when many companies were still experimenting with fully 3D playgrounds after the groundbreaking GTA 3, especially Japanese producers who took longer to transition to this revolutionary design. It also arrived at a time when games were played for longer periods and had to last longer. This is noticeable in this remaster as Capcom decided to fine-tune the game and suggests that in the original version they adjusted it to artificially prolong the gameplay. Dead Rising: Remaster Deluxe has much superior controls, does not waste your time, and even veterans may feel that it is too easy, even on Normal difficulty.
Dead Rising: Remaster Deluxe is another project that Capcom can be proud of. In addition to the improvements in graphics, controls, and gameplay, practically all the main mechanics of the original game have been enhanced to fit current standards. As a fan of the series who felt some discomfort with the original, I saw all my complaints resolved, in an experience that still remains surreal and unmatched today. Dead Rising shares zombies with Resident Evil, but it is more silly, eccentric, and designed for fun, even with mechanics that convey tension. If this remaster was an attempt by Capcom to reignite interest in the series, I can only wish it great success.

– Still remains an unmatched series, and this is probably the most balanced and enjoyable Dead Rising
