Rahul Purini Discusses Demon Slayer: Mugen Train
Rahul Purini, CEO of Crunchyroll, has revealed that there are still no dates for the continuation of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, but he assures that the companies are aware of the huge desire for its arrival in cinemas as soon as possible, something they are taking into account.
Production Challenges and Future Plans
In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Purini reminded that dates for the next two films have not been announced yet, something that Aniplex and Ufotable have not decided on, but they are working to present them as soon as possible.
Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was allegedly produced in three and a half years, after the success of Mugen Train prompted the companies to adapt the ending of Demon Slayer into movies rather than the anime series, suggesting that it was in 2020 that they began to outline this plan.
The difficulty in creating the 3DCG scenes for Mugen Train and the work in parallel with the final arc of the anime, the Hashira Training, may have forced Ufotable to take more time to produce the film, but even with improvements in production, we may have to wait until 2027 to see the second film of the trilogy.
Continuing Success and Future Developments
Considering that Demon Slayer: Mugen Train has already surpassed $560 million in box office earnings, becoming the biggest anime success and the best result for a Japanese film in cinemas, Aniplex, Crunchyroll, and Ufotable certainly will not want to go too long without news from Demon Slayer.
