Dragon Ball Super Celebrates 9 Years Since Its Premiere
Today, July 5, 2024, marks the 9th anniversary of the anime Dragon Ball Super since its first episode aired on Japanese television and global streaming services.
From Manga to Anime
On July 5, 2015, approximately a month after the release of the first chapter of the manga created by Akira Toriyama and illustrated by Toyotarou (published by Viz Media and Shueisha worldwide), Toei Animation commenced the broadcast of the anime adaptation, which wrapped up at the end of March 2018.
New Characters and Exciting Sagas
For viewers who followed the anime on a weekly basis, it was a series brimming with emotions, introducing formidable new characters and incredibly dynamic new forms. The manga eventually caught up with the anime, delving into fresh sagas like Moro and Granolah, as well as reimagining events from the Super Hero movie. Despite Toriyama’s passing, there were additional original developments, such as Broly training on Beerus’ planet.
The anticipation for an anime adaptation of the Moro and Granolah sagas still lingers, with the upcoming television project being Dragon Ball Daima, an anime crafted with Toriyama’s endorsement.
