After making headlines in Diablo 4, billionaire Elon Musk is now causing a stir due to his achievements in Path of Exile 2. According to several members of the Grinding Gear Games community, Musk is not a serious player and is falsifying his accomplishments in the game.
Musk became one of the top players in Diablo 4, but the arrival of Path of Exile 2, a game he described as a “marriage between Elden Ring and Diablo,” caught his attention. Since its release in December, he has been sharing various achievements in the game, such as staying among the top hardcore league players.
However, Musk is once again facing accusations of lying, after a recent stream of his generated criticism that he can’t even perform basic tasks in Path of Exile 2, let alone remain among the top hardcore players.
Musk streamed over an hour playing Path of Exile 2, using a level 95 hardcore character, which is truly impressive considering the modifiers and difficulty increase as the game progresses. Reaching level 80 is an impressive feat, reaching 90 or higher is simply incredible.
However, the community says that Musk’s gameplay is anything but impressive, much less incredible, sparking more criticism that the billionaire pays someone to play for him, an accusation that gained strength with the map tab where the name “Elon’s Map” was seen. For many, it is a strange name that stands out from the rest, raising suspicions that someone created custom paths for Elon to follow, someone who plays on his account and is leveling up for him.
Others also say that Musk has shown a lack of full understanding of all the mechanics of Path of Exile 2, that he has not demonstrated perfect use of gameplay to succeed, something that is absolutely essential in hardcore, especially at such a high level. At one point, Musk assigns value to items that are already irrelevant to his character’s progression, another moment that has left many dedicated players questioning if Musk is really the player he claims to be, especially because he did not pick up other truly important items.
Throughout the stream, Musk showed what many say is a lack of understanding of gameplay, struggling to identify nodes on the map that he can use, entering a map with a full inventory and trying to pick up items, not activating loot filters. For one of the top 12 players in Path of Exile 2, this behavior raised many eyebrows.
In one of the most bizarre moments, Musk seems to criticize his “only level 62” weapon for the level 95 character, showing apparent misunderstanding of how Path of Exile 2 works, which the community does not excuse and uses to accuse him of not playing.
