Expansion Plans for Baldur’s Gate 3
Despite the tremendous success of Baldur’s Gate 3, the Larian Studios has not confirmed any plans to expand the content with new expansions. The game, which can take over 100 hours to complete, presents several challenges for the studio when considering the development of expansions.
The Challenges of Level 12 to 20 Adventures
Sven Vincke, the CEO of Larian, recently spoke with PCGamer about the possibility of expansions for Baldur’s Gate 3. He mentioned that the higher levels of the game require a different approach and a significant amount of effort to create compelling content. Vincke emphasized that developing content for levels 12 to 20 would be much more demanding than a traditional expansion.
Vincke explained that many Dungeons & Dragons adventures are designed for lower levels due to the complexity and effort required for higher-level content. While an expansion may sound like a good idea, the studio realizes the challenges involved in creating meaningful and impactful content for the game.
